Are you suffering from one of these common Household electrical problems?
Is your breaker refusing to reset after it’s been tripped?
Many people blame the breaker in these situations, but more often than not the breaker is working fine. Most of the time, the breaker is refuses to reset because the fault that tripped it in the first place is still active. It’s actually doing its job properly. If your breaker won’t reset, give us a call and we can come and diagnose the problem.
Does using a certain appliance always knock out your circuit?
Breakers trip when a circuit is in danger of being overloaded, and unfortunately, many high wattage appliances like electric heaters, microwaves and hairdryers will trip a breaker if the circuit is too ‘light-weight’. The simplest solution is to set these appliances to a low wattage setting – an option many such appliances have – but if that does not work, the only option is to set up a separate ‘heavy duty’ circuit for these items. Give BEST a call for a quotation – this solution isn’t as pricey as you may think.
Do your light bulbs keep dying?
Burning out light bulbs is a symptom of many different problems. Most commonly it suggests poor or faulty connections in your home, but occasionally, especially if you are new to the house, it can be a case of just using the wrong type of bulb. A qualified electrician should be able to diagnose this quickly.
Do some of your bulbs remain dim whilst others remain bright?
This variation in bulb brightness is most often caused by a bad main neural connection. Unfortunately, if this is happening, then variations in the bulbs are the least of your concerns. A bad main neural connection can lead to light bulbs popping and can short out and damage electronic appliances. This should be looked at by a qualified electrician immediately.
Do some of your wall switches feel warm or hot?
Heat at the switch is quite a common issue especially if they are dimming switches and running 600 watt or less bulbs. Although not a problem in many cases, it is worth getting an electrician in to check them for peace of mind. Heat at a receptacle however is much more of an issue and should be looked at by a qualified electrician immediately.
